It always amazes me how some of these companies will tell us that the best abdominal exercises we can do are crunches and sit-ups. There is a big misconception going on that says that you need to do various ab routines in order to see a six pack. You can easily see why this can be funny, because you can do hundreds of sit-ups a day and still see no results.If you have excess fat in your stomach region you will never see your abs. This is why I stay away from companies that will tell me that I can lose weight by doing ab exercises.

So how can you achieve a flatter stomach? To start you should take a look at your eating habits. In order to lose weight you must follow this simple process, or you weight loss goals could slip away from you very easily. You have to take accountability for your poor eating habits and make sure that you get a well balance diets of all 5 food groups. I will not say that the new diet will not work, but don’t be surprised when the weight comes back after you are done with it. I overheard that some of the people on the Biggest Loser tv show actually gained back all their weight. Its not a big shock though because the type of training and nutrition they had on the show. It was great to see people committed to changing the way they look and feel, if only they had the answers to truly losing body fat. If you want to lose any kind of excess body fat then you will definitely want to stick to doing cardio workouts. There is also a common misconception with this too, some people believe that in order to lose weight with cardio exercises you must be going at a steady pace for at least thirty minutes. Because of this misconception people just hop on a elliptical or treadmill machine and zone out at the tv. I would ask that you try to challenge yourself when you are at the gym, tv time is for when you are lounging around. Now I am not saying that treadmill or elliptical exercises are bad, I am just saying that if you are truly desirous of losing that belly then you need to work out with different levels of intensity. Just staring at a TV while leisurely doing your work out may not be cutting it.
There is a ton of abdominal fat exercises that you can do to reduce body fat. If you can constantly trick your body into thinking that the exercises are new, you will be able to avoid the infamous “plateau phase” (still working out regularly but not seeing wanted results). The thing is, the body gets bored really quickly so make sure that you are switching up your routines.
If you are going to work out on a treadmill or elliptical machine try to vary your workout.
Warm-up for 3-4 minutes at a fast walk or light jog
Interval 1 – run at 8.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 2 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Interval 3 – run at 10.0 mi/hr for 1 minute
Interval 4 – walk at 4.0 mi/hr for 1.5 minutes
Repeat those 4 intervals 4 times for a very intense 20-minute workout.
Here are a few examples of abdominal fat exercises that you can try today.
· Renegade Dumbbell Rows – Start in the pushup position with each hand on one dumbbell and alternate raising each dumbbell to your chest. Try doing 5 sets of 5 or 3 sets of 8.
· Mountain Climbers – Start in the pushup position and shuffle your feet in and out so that your knees go under your chest. Try doing this for at least 20 second intervals.
· Front Squats – Just like doing a back squat except that you rest the barbell on the front of your shoulders. It may take a bit of practice at first, so I would suggest asking for help until you can do it by yourself. Try doing 5 sets of 5 or 3-4 sets of 8.
