The General: One of Keaton’s best silent films, setting comedy contrary to real Civil Battle tale of stolen train, and Union spies. Michael Clayton: The ethics of a law firm’s “fixer” (Clooney) are set to the test while one of its tough lawyers (Wilkinson) has a nervous break down during the depositions of a huge class action suit. This film is a rock solid thriller. Cast includes George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Tilda Swinton, Sydney Pollack, Michael O’Keefe, Ken Howard, David Lansbury, Denis O’Hare, and Austin Williams.  (120 minutes, 2007)

Daniel: Phenomenal adaptation of E. L. Doctorow’s The Novel of Daniel, in reference to the kids of a few sequenced after Julius and Ethel Rosenberg who should encounter their hurtful heritage in order to handle their own lives in the difficult 1960s. Not without its imperfections, however overall a seductive and incredibly well-made film. Cast includes Timothy Hullon, Mandy Patinkin, Lindsay Crouse, Edward Asner, Ellen Barkin, Julie Bovasso, Tovah Feldshuh, Joseph Leon, Amanda Plummer, and John Rubinstein. (130 minutes, 1983)

Days of Glory: Moving (and illuminating) fable of North African cadets who joined their French brothers in battle throughout WW2 even thougth they were on no account acknowledged as equals. The film is constructed on a time worn recipe of following raw initiates as they become stiffened battle Heros by concentrating on a handful of men and personalizing their tale. This film brings this forgotten chapter of history comes to lucid life. Cast includes Jamel Debbouze, Samy Naceri, Roschdy Zem, Sami Bouajila, Bernard Blancan, Mathieu Simonet, Benoit Giros, Melanie Laurent, and Antoine Chappey. (120 minutes, 2006)

The Day Time Ended: Sci-fi mumbo jumbo in regards to a family living in the desert, who witness odd and horrifying phenomena. Cast includes Jim Davis, Dorothy Malone, Christopher Mitchum, Marcy Lafferty, Scott Kolden, and Natasha Ryan. (79 minutes, 1980)

Alfie Darling: Forgettable continuation to Alfie, with Cost a most insufficient substitute for Michael Caine. This time around our idol falls for a fashionable publication editor. Cast includes Alan Cost, Jill Townsend, Joan Collins, Annie Ross, Sheila White, and Rula Lenska.  (102 minutes, 1975)

Buffalo Bill: Vibrant biography of legendary Westerner should have been much more superior, however still grants some fun and has excellent cast. Cast includes Joel McCrea, Maureen O’Hara, Linda Damell, Thomas Mitchell, Anthony Quinn, Edgar Buchanan, Chief Thundercloud, and Sidney Blackmer.  (90 minutes, 1944)
